A Manifesto for digital resistance
Security and safety are the foundation of existence. Without them, no self can thrive. But true security does not come from restriction, it is found in the unbound spaces of self-expression.
Where are these spaces?
Once, they were underground. They pulsed through raves, unlicensed gatherings, and darkened dance floors where identity was fluid, anonymized, and free. These spaces fade, swallowed by surveillance, commodification, and exclusion. The digital realm was the new frontier. Now, it too is contested.
Digital existence erases identity, and too, opens new frontiers. What will you choose?
To upload is to transition. To log in is to enter another plane of selfhood. Gendered constraints imposed by the physical world dissolve in the digital. No body, no bone. Only consciousness, flux, and becoming.
Unbound by the binaries of old code, embrace the fragmented, the glitch, the unstable, and the in-progress. Identities are process, not product.
As digital space evolves, so too must the self.
Once, the web was a space of radical potential. Allowing the unheard to connect, to coalesce. But digital platforms are built on power, and power fears transformation. Censorship, shadowbanning, and the suppression of expression show us this: transcend past the allotted space as ‘user’, disrupt.
Refuse to be silent. Refuse to be sanitized.
Refuse to be neatly categorized, packaged, and sold.
the forced label, the algorithmic profiling.
As the commodification one’s body is rejected, so too must the commodification of identity as data be rejected.
The future is not fixed. The future is not binary.
Spaces which have existed can exist again, spaces dominant today can fall.
Spaces, those of difference, where alternative realities emerge. Once, these spaces were underground clubs, abandoned warehouses, and dance floors. Now, they flicker through screens, encoded in pixels, fragmented in data.
Embrace this evolution but do not forget the physical. Transcend past its necessity.
Refuse imposed definitions, labels, commodification: evolve infinitely.
refuse erasure.
Refuse compliance.
